It is a beautiful thing to listen to yourself. When you listen to yourself, you write your own book.” ~ Sherif Baba
As a therapist, you are a listener. A good listener, a deep listener. A nurturing, guiding, healing listener. You have listened so many clients into a truer connection with themselves and onto a more life-affirming path.
And in your heart, you know that this is not only because of the trainings you have taken and the techniques you have learned. It is also – even primarily – because of who you are.
Your intimacy with yourself.
Your gift of listening between the lines to bring forth the beating, healing heart of your beautiful, suffering clients.
How you mirror back patterns and unrealized threads, and give them compassion where they may never have known compassion.
How you unveil glimpses of exciting new inner capacities, and open them to seeing themselves through your loving, supportive eyes.
Imagine if you could reach a great many more people than you can see in your therapy office alone, and extend to them the kind of healing that unfolds out of deep listening.
And imagine further that this way of reaching out to them also gives you the gift you’ve always longed for: to see your true being revealing itself creatively, beautifully, and authentically.
This happens when you write a book from the deeper Self.
Unconditional positive regard and presence are two qualities that every good therapist aspires to. When achieved, the counselor becomes a healer. What a delightful surprise to find that Naomi Rose excels in these attributes.
Through being deeply listened to, I am starting to hear myself. Because of that, my relationship to writing has shifted to a level that will grow beyond the book project and inform the rest of my life. The book has become a bonus and I am grateful.” ~ Clare Goodwin, author, Gifts of the Mandala
Why Write a Book?
- A book can reach thousands, even millions of readers, spreading what you want to share far and wide.
- A book can bring you wonderful opportunities to be known, to speak and teach, and more.
- It can bring you pre-screened clients, colleagues and collaborators, and even friends.
This is just a part of what the world can bring you when you write and publish a book.
But perhaps more importantly to someone who treasures the inner life, writing a book deeply ~ through listening to yourself and being listened to ~ allows you to become known to yourself in a way you may have only dreamed of.
As your book unfolds by listening it into being, the process of self-discovery and healing that opens up brings you into a creative stream that itself is healing. Then, after you have experienced all the goodness this book-development process has to give you, you can share it with the world through your “product” ~ your book in print.
When I began this process, my deepest yearnings were twofold: one, that the words expressed would be a true expression of my soul; and two, that in the process of writing I would find and deepen my relationship with my creativity, and myself. Naomi has been a precious guide in both respects.” ~ Carolyn Shoshana Fershtman, Ph.D., psychologist, Four Worlds Therapy (book in progress)
Why a book? Because ~ in a culture all too starved for depth and realness ~ you have a gift to offer that can ease hearts, illuminate paths, and bring comfort and guidance and true healing. When a book transmits your presence as well as message, it heals your readers by your presence as well as your message. Heart-to-heart, it becomes your living emissary in the world.
If you asked me for a few words of comfort and guidance, I would kneel down beside you and offer you a whole book as a gift.” ~ Hafiz
You Already Have What You Need to Write a Book
If the desire to write a book has ever knocked on the door of your heart and whispered “Write me,” you will be relieved to know that you already have every basic ingredient you need for doing this. Deep listening ~ the essential ingredient ~ is so wholly part of you by now that once you realize this is the key, you will say, “Hey, I can do this! Of course I can do this!”
Deep listening is a far truer way than the usual convention for producing a book (such as coming up with a topic or outline and striving to fill it in). This way of Writing from the Deeper Self is so compatible with your own way of being and frame of reference that it will not be strange to you. Far from it, this approach will bring you home to yourself, as you bring your readers home to themselves.
So this profession of therapy that you have chosen ~ and the person you have become by giving yourself to it ~ will actually support you in writing the book of your heart.
You already know this territory. It’s a smaller leap than you think to bring it into a book and help heal our soul-hungry world.
You are the right person, in the right place, at the right time.
It’s your turn to be listened to, now.
“Long before I wrote stories, I listened for stories. Listening for them is something more acute than listening to them. I suppose it’s an early form of participation in what goes on. Listening children know stories are there. When their elders sit and begin, children are just waiting and hoping for one to come out, like a mouse from its hole.” ~ Eudora Welty, One Writer’s Beginnings
Want to see how other therapists and healers have fared in their work with me?
Check out the Client Experiences page. A large proportion of clients are therapists and healers ~ for instance: Rahima Warren, MFT (ret.), The Star-Seer’s Prophecy; Larry Decker, PhD, The Alchemy of Combat; Claudio Naranjo, MD, Healing Civilization; Barbara Hannelore, The Moon and You; Doreen Hamilton, PhD, Essential Speaking; Earlene Gleisner, RN, Reiki Master, The Spirit Bundle; and more.
And read the Testimonials by therapists and healers on what they received from working with me. Here’s just one:
When I began this process, my deepest yearnings were twofold: one, that the words expressed would be a true expression of my soul; and two, that in the process of writing I would find and deepen my relationship with my creativity, and myself. Naomi has been a precious guide in both respects.” ~ Carolyn Shoshana Fershtman, PhD, Four Worlds Therapy
Why I Do This Work
My name is Naomi Rose, and I call myself a Book Whisperer and Developer. After spending 30 years in the traditional publications field as an editor, writer, and consultant, I became aware of the disconnection between the depth of the heart and how books came about. And I wanted to bring the two together. I wanted to find a way for book writing to be healing in itself. And over many years, I did. (You can read more about my own journey on the “About” page of this site.)
I chose to specialize in working with therapists ~ after having some wonderful clients who are therapists (some, you can encounter on the “Client Experiences” page) because I love how therapists go deep, look for meaningful connecting threads, find the light, and give their all to the process. These qualities are perfect for writing a book from the deeper Self.
Therapists so often come to their vocation from a childhood experience of not being heard for who they are. This “wounded healer” gift then blesses the people they serve. But who hears them as fully as they might like? It is my joy to serve the very people who serve others towards full healing, through the book-writing process.
